Bratton View Location Map

Bratton View and what to do

Bratton Fleming is situated in North Devon, not too far from the border with Somerset. It’s close to the western fringe of Exmoor, yet only eight miles away from the ‘capital of North Devon’ – Barnstaple.

We’ve included, below the map, some local knowledge from your hosts Angela & David.

Exploring Exmoor

Exmoor itself offers a wonderful combination of heather moorland and sparkling rivers, always with the possibility of spotting Exmoor ponies, red deer and buzzards. Depending on the time of year, you also have the chance of hearing the elusive cuckoo. There are some fantastic walks to take on, and engaging with the countryside couldn’t be easier in this beautiful National Park.

The famous Valley of the Rocks, Lynton, Lynmouth and Watersmeet are just a short drive away, as are the market towns of Bideford and South Molton.

We have a wealth of magnificent coastline, spectacular cliff and coastal walks, rocky coves and the long sandy beaches of Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay, Woolacombe and several more. You’d be missing out if you didn’t spend some time paddling (or swimming for the very brave!) and sampling some local fish and chips.

Eating out – our picks

There are various National Trust and RHS properties for you to visit – Arlington Court is less than 15 minutes away and they do a mean cream tea.

For evening meals, the Fulham Chinese restaurant (Barnstaple) serves consistently excellent oriental cuisine and is rated among the very best restaurants in North Devon.

We have a wealth of pubs nearby, with the Fox & Goose just a short drive down the road in Parracombe. Their Sunday lunches are to die for and the owners and staff have always been extremely friendly and accommodating.
